Someone I've known a while reached out today.

We've been talking off and on for a couple of years, looking for the right project to build together.

He's looking to get off custom GPTs and hand-rolled deployments and build something fully customized, fully automated, end to end.

He spent 15 years in IT before becoming an entrepreneur, so we could talk shop and cut straight to the point.

He's already begun development and has it about half done. The further he gets, the more he realizes it isn't the best use of his time.

We haven't talked about this part yet, but I'm imagining every day that goes by eats at him a little.

He can see it. Custom GPTs are being phased out and hand-rolled deployments are probably getting tiresome. He could be serving his clients at a higher level, more consistently, with fewer defects and less effort, if he could just get all of this into one app.

Here's the important part.

His business is working. He's busy. That's a good problem.

But it's the reason the app sits at 50%, because the thing he'd have to give up to finish it is the thing that's actually paying him.

That's a tradeoff you can only see clearly after you've priced your own hours honestly.
